The more people that you meet and can connect with will connect you with more and more people

Keywords: journalism , reflection

You never really know where life will take you or what you will need. Having a network of people that you can rely on if you need something is really important. I have done my best to network not just as a journalist but also just as a person. It feels good to be there for others when they need you and it feels good knowing that they will be there for you when you need them.

Update about related sites

This is a small update about the related sites shown in the sidebar of this site at right (near the bottom).

Up until now, these site were primarily “business” oriented (and you can still see their RSS feeds by visiting the “Business Networks” site). Now, the sites listed here will be more focused on individuals, personality, individual’s behaviors, views, perspectives, etc.

Accordingly, this site itself will be even more focused on actually building connections (and in particular: personal connections). In other words: I think I will mainly list information about people who explicitly express a wish to connect with others.

If you are also interested in other aspects of life related to connecting with other people, please also check out (and / or follow) those other related sites listed in the right-hand column.

Thanks!

Those we rely on to support our decision making, to help us do a better job at work, to answer our technical questions, to share our knowledge of a new innovation on a project – all of these circles have shrunk

Our diversity of accessible knowledge we trust – that has lessened.

Not deliberately, but gradually and unknowingly – I feel I am poorer.

I’d bet most of us work in jobs that are inherently about our knowledge and experiences. Gaining more knowledge and experience leads us to more fulfilling work, maybe promotions, maybe different roles – a sense of purpose and worth. Sharing these with others for their benefit and the benefit of their work often gives us joy. Now the source of those gains is smaller, now our capacity to share is reduced are we still growing and developing as we want to?

With #WFH and virtual meetings becoming the new normal, we’ve put together some tips that will help you navigate the dance of building new social and professional connections, even if the first time you meet your new friends is through a screen

When you establish yourself as the host, you become the point person to go to. This opens up more opportunities for you to be the main point of contact for other new entrants. In both professional and social settings, this accelerates the rate of expanding your social circle and empowers you to organise future events or bond the community.

As long as, you are on earth, breathing and moving you connect with people everyday of your life

Walk, connect and network with those in line with your vision and goal. Because the people you surround yourself with can create a big influence in your life. They can either bring you down or raise you up. It’s better to have two right connections who are ready to work with you than having a thousand wrong connections that can bring you down and reduce you to a mediocre.
