I want to make people fall in love with nature

Besides taking pictures, you’ll find me regularly hiking, kayaking, biking, birding and working in the garden (usually with my kids). I am rarely spotted without a camera or a set of binoculars. I love the smell of woodsmoke in the fall and sound of the spring peepers. My favourite book is likely the Peterson’s Field Guide to the Birds and “Lost together” by Blue Rodeo is my favourite song. I live for the slow moments, authentic connections and I am fuelled by coffee and creativity.

Living life is crazy, confusing, and scary

Making a blog, sharing my story and hoping to grow connections with those of the average, silent majority out there. Then I ask myself, whos a silent majority? I like to think the silent majority is our self conscious; our brain. We can be our worst enemies, or best friends, its a matter of self control. So, if you have a brain, your perfect for my blog! I hope to be able to write experiences that connect to my readers, and hope to grow friends through this experience. Even if only 2 people read this, being my aunt and my husband. It’ll still be exciting for my mental health and many more out there. Another reason I chose to start a blog, was being remembered. That sounds silly doesn’t it. Believe it or not, we were made to be on this big beautiful Earth for a reason. I am still learning why my presence is much needed, but I know that I am not here for nothing. Being able to write will create a memorabilia someday for my children, family and friends. This isn’t selfish at all, its making sure that someday, hopefully years and years down the road, my time on this earth was spent joyful and sharing my story. Everyone should be able to share their story, how to tell it, is completely up to you. Just imagine, my blog may be the stepping stone to a book that may come in my future. Its a matter of self control, and what’s next.

Losing connection is too easy nowadays when almost every avenue for in person interaction is closed off

It’s not as easy to just grab a bite to eat with someone when every outside interaction comes with the specter of covid infection. This also closes off a lot of ways to create new friends. I recently have gotten back into a card game that could offer me new avenues of creating friendships, but the venues for meeting to play are dens of covid disregard. Social media is a tentative way to connect but it rarely offers the kind of comfort that seeing people in person creates. I have never been the type of person to create online friendships with strangers from across the globe. My parents were all too effective at instilling “stranger danger” type fear over chatrooms into me as a child. I am also a person who is just afraid of posting anything too personal online. That is part of the therapeutic (hopefully) quality of this blog, to offer a more honest (although technically anonymous) space for myself. I hope also that talking through these things, if you know me or not, will be in some way relatable to you, reader. We live in lonely times, and it’s easy to feel disconnected but we all have a lot more in common than we usually think.

I always hope to chat and display my openness to them and a strong desire to connect

They may poke around any bit of me, ask any question of me, observe, and decide what they think. I’ll have no control over them, but only let them in and, if they come, gratefully respond according to each. If ever they will tell me something they want of me I will feel a particular desire to accommodate them.
